The State of Yucatan does produce its own fuels, so it depends on other states for its supply, putting it at risk of shortage. The projections of consumption for the next 10 years show that the State will continue with an energy dependence from fossil fuels from other states. However, the state has significant resources for the use of renewable energy, which can significantly reduce the dependence on natural gas for electricity generation. In this context, the Strategy was developed in order to inform the Government of Yucatan about the current context in energy matters and define actions in the short, medium and long term to transition to renewable energy sources
